Personalization

Click here to learn more about what personalization is and why you should you care. |
Personalization is often thought of simply as the bells and whistles that a user adds to their work environment like custom fonts, backgrounds, etc. But personalization goes beyond customization of the visual environment and extends to user-specific application settings. Uniform corporate policies restrict such customization and provide a barrier to the implementation of desktop virtualization solutions across the organization. This is mainly due to the fact that the user customization is usually tightly coupled into the operating system. |
Soliving the issue
RES PowerFuse user workspace management addresses this problem by decoupling the user workspace, which broadly consists of application settings pertaining to a user, from the applications and the operating system in such a manner that those settings can be seamlessly layered on top of any generic corporate image.
RES Software maintains a repository containing stateful information about the user workspace. This information is comprehensive and not limited to the information typically stored in the user preference directories and registry locations. This complete abstraction of user settings from the underlying operating system allows the replication of the user experience in a new user session seamlessly by layering that information on top of whatever environment the user is running.
Consistent user experience
With RES PowerFuse, users will always see the same user experience:
- Desktop settings will always be the same.
- Application settings such as mail profiles, custom dictionaries, and browser bookmarks will be immediately available and consistently applied.
- Multiple user interfaces, such as desktops, laptops, remote applications, or even VDI environments, can be interacted with simultaneously with configuration updates being correctly synchronized across each.
